If you are a student and your goal is to achieve productivity in your routine, then that means you will want to focus on specific things! Dedicating time to work/studying during the day is already something you can add to your routine that will achieve that goal!

So sit down and have a good think about what you want most out of your day and you’ll be able to start working towards it!

The truth is, you can’t do everything at once. That’s why you need to set priorities for the different tasks which you will cover in a day.

If you like to work out but are constantly trying to keep up with your homework then you’re going to need to prioritize your homework.

A great way to do this is to make a list of tasks you need to carry out throughout the day and rank them in order of how important each one is!

Studies show that relaxation actually ensures that our heart remains healthy, lowers stress, and helps prevent depression and anxiety.

You need to make sure that your daily schedule has a balanced mix of both work and free time. You can’t expect both your brain and your mind to work efficiently if you aren’t giving it the time to recharge!

Creating breaks during your routine could be as simple as scrolling mindlessly through TikTok, or reading a book. Whatever is relaxing to you, make sure you take the time to put it into your routine!

For example, let’s say you have a 3000-word assignment to complete and need to include it in your daily schedule. How can you possibly go about that?

Well, the first step would be to examine the parts of each task. Instead of viewing the assignment as a whole, you can split it into three sections! You can then block in each section into your routine, and tackle it at different times or even on different days!

With that being said, there are certain times of the day which are better suited for some tasks.

Mornings are usually about rushing out of the door to wherever you need to get to. If you work from home, your mornings are still a great chance to get small tasks done. If you have anything you would rather not do (but still have to do), plan it for the morning. That way it won’t be something you’re dreading doing for the rest of the day!

When we’re talking about the afternoon, most of us are usually a little burnt out and our energy levels have dropped. However, this is actually the best time to get most of your work out of the way. Whether it’s cleaning the dishes, continuing your assignment, or working out, midday is your best bet to get this work done.

The evenings are usually the best time to plan for the next day, and finally relaxing without anything else in the way! Do not place too many tasks in the evening, or you will likely burn yourself out.

When we organize similar tasks together, we are actually allowing our brains to use the same thought processes to carry out the tasks.

This means that we will be more efficient whilst we are working on those tasks. This is similar to when you’re working on homework and get into a flow. The consistent rhythm makes it more likely that you will complete your tasks on time!

Whilst you are creating your schedule, you should reflect on how much time you spend procrastinating. If you feel that you spend a lot of time doing this, then you’re going to need to tone it down.

Let’s say you spend an average of 3 hours on social media, you could instead create a block in your routine that allows you to spend 1 hour on social media.

In that way, you are limiting your time on that activity, and allowing more time for other activities!

Whenever I would create a routine for myself, there would always be a sense of guilt lingering. If I didn’t complete every single task on my list, then it just wasn’t good enough.

Allowing yourself some freedom is crucial to ensuring that you will be working efficiently. If you find yourself unable to stick to your routine on a day, just take note of what you couldn’t do.

Put it in a list of things that are overdue, and do it when you feel is best. It’s that simple. Be kind to yourself!

Research shows that clutter actually increases the likelihood of procrastination. If you’re already overwhelmed with your workload, misplaced papers and unwanted items are only going to make things worse.
