How to play

Pips Hints takes two minutes to learn: put every domino on the board so every colored region follows its rule.

In short: cover every cell with the dominoes you are given (use all of them, turn them any way). A number means the pips in that region add up to that number. = means all pips match, ≠ means all are different, <N / >N mean the total is under / over N. Dotted cells have no rule.

Step by step

  1. Look at the board: it is split into colored regions, and most regions have a badge with a rule.
  2. Pick a domino from the tray below the board. Tap it again (or press Rotate) to turn it.
  3. Tap a cell to place the domino there, or drag it onto the board. Tap a placed domino to pick it back up.
  4. Use every domino and cover every cell. Each half of a domino counts toward the region it sits in.
  5. When every region's rule is met, the puzzle is solved. Badges turn green as regions are completed correctly and red if a full region breaks its rule.

Exact total

36
Puzzle
36
Solved
Left column must total 3, right column 6. The 1–4 domino crosses both regions: its 1 counts on the left, its 4 on the right.

All equal (=) and all different (≠)

=≠
Puzzle
=≠
Solved
The “=” region needs three matching pips (three 3s). The “≠” region needs three different pips (5, 1 and 0).

Less than, greater than, and free cells

>5<3
Puzzle
>5<3
Solved
“>5” means more than 5, so only a 6 fits. “<3” means the two cells add to 2 or less. The dotted cell has no rule at all.

Controls

Dominoes are a standard double-six set: each half has 0 to 6 pips, and a blank half counts as 0. Each puzzle has exactly one answer, so you never need to guess — every placement can be worked out. Ready for strategy? Read the tips.
